We’re excited to announce that Genie now supports importing projects from any Git-based repository via URL, including platforms like GitLab and Bitbucket, on our Professional Tier.

Contact support to get this feature activated for your use case while we work towards tighter integration with GitLab and Bitbucket on our roadmap for a wider future release.

Import Codebase (1)

This update opens up streamlined integrations, helping teams incorporate repositories outside GitHub into their Genie workflows.

While we still recommend using our native GitHub integration for full access to Genie’s collaboration features (like file creation and workflow execution), this URL-based import expands flexibility—especially for teams using non-GitHub providers.

Secure SSH Key Authentication

To support these new URL-based imports, we’ve introduced a robust SSH key authentication system. Teams can now:

  • Generate team-wide or project-specific SSH keys

  • Download or regenerate key pairs as needed

We also support the use of personal access tokens (PATs) for HTTPS-based imports as an alternative.

Import Codebase Using SSH

This update reflects our commitment to expanding workflow compatibility and supporting developer choice. If you’ve been waiting for GitLab or Bitbucket support—now’s the time to jump in.

Additional Enhancements and Fixes

Alongside the new Git import and authentication updates, this release also includes several usability improvements and bug fixes:

  • GitHub repo import: We now load 20 repos at a time instead of 10 for better visibility on large screens.

  • Repo sorting update: GitHub repos are now ordered by last updated rather than last pushed—providing a more intuitive list.

  • Login bug fix: Resolved an issue causing infinite reroutes from the marketing site’s login button.

  • Task state filtering: Fixed a bug that caused completed tasks to appear even when that state wasn’t selected.

  • Timeline UX: Improved the placement and management experience.

  • Homepage task creation: Fixed issues with AutoPM selection when starting tasks from the homepage.

  • Pull requests: These now always open in a new browser tab for smoother navigation.
