Help shape the future of Britain’s first sovereign frontier AI. Cosine is seeking public input on capabilities, use cases, and governance for Lumen Sovereign, our secure, UK-built model for critical sectors.
Cosine is building Lumen Sovereign, Britain's first fully sovereign frontier AI for critical sectors. As we shared in our recent landmark coalition announcement, many of the UK's most vital institutions face a difficult reality. The models they depend on are controlled, trained, and operated overseas, creating unacceptable risks to security and sovereignty.
We are building Lumen to change that.
Backed by the UK Government's £500 million Sovereign AI programme, Lumen Sovereign will be trained entirely on UK soil using Isambard-AI, one of Europe's most powerful supercomputers. Targeted for completion by the end of 2026, it will be fully deployable in air-gapped and high-security environments.
We want to hear from you
As part of the design phase, we are inviting individuals and industry leaders to contribute their expertise. Our objective is to understand the real-world tasks and workflows that Lumen Sovereign should be able to perform effectively, both as an autonomous agent and through conversational interactions.
We want to know:
- What capabilities and use cases should a sovereign-trained LLM prioritise?
- Where do current models fall short?
- What safety, assurance, or governance requirements must be met?
- Are there specific datasets, benchmarks, or evaluation methods we should use?
- What tools would the model need to operate effectively in your workflows?
And more.
By inviting public input, we ensure this capability is built with transparency and aligned with the unique requirements of the society it serves.
Your input will help shape Lumen Sovereign's capabilities and support our mission to bring world-class, agentic AI to the UK.
