Discover the new Cosine and Mimic partnership bringing on-premise, sovereign AI to defence and regulated industries for automated virtual patching.
At this year’s Black Hat in Las Vegas, we announced a major step forward for Cosine as we officially enter the cybersecurity space: we are partnering with Mimic to bring sovereign, autonomous AI capabilities to the world’s most secure environments.
As part of this partnership, Mimic is integrating Lumen Outpost – our AI model trained specifically for cybersecurity – directly into their platform.
Perfecting virtual patching
Our initial joint focus is perfecting virtual patching. Today, the gap between discovering a critical exploit and deploying an official vendor patch leaves organisations exposed. Together, Cosine and Mimic are closing this loop, delivering an end-to-end workflow for immediate protection.
Here is how our joint solution works in practice:
- Autonomous discovery: powered by Lumen Outpost, Cosine’s AI-native Red Team acts as an autonomous adversary, hunting down and proving exact exploit paths within a customer’s environment.
- Immediate neutralisation: instead of waiting weeks for a patch, Mimic instantly neutralises the threat at the kernel level. By enforcing known-good behaviour and blocking unauthorised changes, Mimic stops not just the specific attack, but any variant of the original exploit in its tracks.
- Automated verification: finally, Cosine’s Red Team automatically retests the attack path, providing definitive, actionable proof that the vulnerability has been successfully closed.
Built for data sovereignty
Crucially, this capability is designed for environments where data simply cannot leave the perimeter. Because our Lumen models can run entirely on-premise under the customer’s complete control, our joint solution can be deployed safely in the UK, EU, defence, and highly regulated industries where relying on public or US-hosted cloud AI is a non-starter.
Alistair Pullen, CEO & Co-Founder, Cosine
“AI is becoming increasingly required for our customers in highly regulated environments to defend their networks, but routing their data through foreign cloud providers is not an option. Cosine’s Lumen models, combined with Mimic’s kernel-level enforcement, give regulated organisations a practical way to find, block, and verify threats entirely within their own perimeter.”
Virtual patching is just the first step. As we move forward with this partnership, we look forward to building even more use cases together, equipping defence and highly regulated industries with the sovereign, autonomous capabilities required to stay ahead of modern threats.
